Voiding Direct Deposit Paychecks

If you use Direct Deposit and have voided a check in Patriot Software, you may stop the direct deposit depending on your funding option, and the timing of when you void the check(s).

  • Standard 4-Day Payroll Deadline: 8:00 pm Eastern Time at least 4 days before the pay date.
  • Prefunded Payroll Deadline:  8:00 pm Eastern Time at least 1 day before the pay date.
For more details, see Direct Deposit Funding and Timing Options.

Voiding Before Payroll Deadline

For both Standard and Prefunded, if you void the check before your payroll deadline (see above), Patriot will not make a collection from your business bank account, and the employee(s) will not get paid.

Voiding After Payroll Deadline

If you have Standard 4-Day funding, and you void a check after your payroll deadline, but before 7:00 pm Eastern the day before the pay date, Patriot will refund your collection, and the employee(s) will not get paid.

Voiding After Pay Date

For both Standard and Prefunded, if you void the check after your payroll deadline the day before the pay date, the direct deposit cannot be stopped.  You will need to arrange for repayment or set up an after-tax deduction from the employee’s future paychecks.
